We definitely don't have your flair for wine and food descriptions, but we had the same Beard tasting menu a few days ago. It was delicious, but we kind of liked the tasting menu that we had a few months before. The prior one had a wonderfully rich porcini mushroom combination with brioche. We thought that the prior tasting menu had a more rustic looking coq au vin presentation too vs. the Beard version. The cheesecake on the Beard menu was definitely a plus though.

I know it's a relatively simple dish, but the peas and shoots in shell consomme turns out to be one of my favorite dishes in the area. Very clever and different from what you usually find in Napa Valley. And it's just pretty too. You just put it on the table and say "spring is here."
